Free Tax Preparation Help and the EITC

It’s tax season again! If you haven’t filed your tax return yet I’d like to let you know about a FREE resource for you to take advantage of. The DC EITC Campaign is offering several free tax preparation resources throughout the city.

In addition to helping you file, they will also help identify which tax credits you qualify for. This year, the maximum EITC credit you can receive as a single adult with no dependents is $457. This amount increases to between $3000 and $5600 if you have qualifying dependent children.

Please visit http://www.dceitc.org/tax_sites.html for the detailed information on which organizations near you are hosting free tax preparation assistance.

This Friday, June 4, doughnut makers across the U.S. will celebrate National Doughnut Day in the best way possible--- with free doughnuts.

In case you didn’t know, June 4 is indeed National Doughnut Day. The tradition was established in 1938 by the Salvation Army to help raise funds for people in need. So what does that mean to you? If you visit Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts on Friday, it means free doughnuts! Here are the details:

Krispy Kreme is offering customers a FREE doughnut of their choice at all participating U.S. stores on Friday, June 4. No purchase is necessary for the free doughnut at Krispy Kreme.

At Dunkin’ Donuts , you’ll get free doughnut with the purchase of any beverage at participating stores on Friday, June 4. The offer is good all day.

Happy donut day!
