Description:

**** Candidates with disabilities, rehab referrals, internal candidates****The Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishment. Considered essential personnel with the ability to respond to work in a timely manner as determined by contract needs.

Performs any combination of the following duties

1. Cleaning rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.

2. Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors using brooms and mops and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.

3. Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies, using vacuum cleaner.

4. Dusting furniture and equipment, polishing metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings, washing walls, ceiling, woodwork., washing windows, door panels, and sills, emptying wastebaskets.

5. Transporting trash and waste to disposal area. Replenishing bathroom supplies.

6. Operates power equipment such as two stage snow blowers and a John Deere skid-loader/snowplow.

7. During inclement weather, provide proper upkeep by removing snow from walkways, building entrances, and dock ramps, and spread snow/ice melting chemicals.

Possess the ability to pass and hold a security clearance background check up to a Q clearance. HS diploma/GED or any combination of experience/education to equal graduation from the 12th grade, and 6 month recent, relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services. Some knowledge of equipment and chemicals used; i.e. scrubbers, Billy Goat blowers, vacuums, snow-blowers and EZ-Go. Ability to interact effectively and positively with employees with disabilities required. Some knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment required. Lifting 20-50 pounds frequently.
